Refund policy

We are committed to providing you high quality native seed, native plants, and the joy of making meadows! Please let us know about your experiences -- successes and failures as we continuously endeavor to incorporate customer feedback into everything we do. Please read the following information closely and refer to it when making any refund inquiries:

No Refunds for Seeds and Plants
Plants are inherently highly variable in their germination and growth requirements. Even when lab tests indicate viability, some seeds may have strong dormancy tendencies and require exposure to cold weather, seed scarification, sunlight, day-length, or other factors to break dormancy and initiate germination. In cases where we have a solid understanding of these factors, we try to note them in product descriptions. For many plants (especially wild ones), however, the precise germination triggers are variable, or not well understood. Some other factors that can impact the success rate of germination and young seedling survival include slugs, herbivory by wildlife, too little or too much moisture, extreme or unanticipated weather conditions, and soil-borne diseases. Growing wild meadow plants is always inherently somewhat of an experimental process.

Additionally bulbs, and other live plant materials may be sensitive to heat, drying, poor storage, herbivory, weather and climate variability, and other factors after planting.

Because of these many factors, we cannot guarantee successful growth of seeds, bulbs, or other plant materials after planting, and cannot provide refunds in the circumstances of unsuccessful establishment. Please do contact us however if you are experiencing challenges so that we may assist in troubleshooting any factors that may increase future chances of success.

Returns
Because we lose control over storage and care when seed, bulb, and plant products leave our hands, we unfortunately cannot accept returns. For non-seed items, please contact us to discuss return options.

Mistaken Shipments and Incorrect Seed
We work hard to correctly pack and ship your order accurately. however, in the event that you receive the wrong seed packet, please let us know by sending us an email with a picture attached! We will ship you the correct item. Although this happens irregularly, as our inventory grows and with many species that have similar names, this sometimes happens. We apologize if it happens to you.

If you plant your seed and it turns out to be something totally different, also please let us know with a picture! This has never happened to our knowledge, but as we grow as a business our goal is always to ensure top notch quality control in all of our systems.

Please note, occasionally a rogue seed from another garden plant or wildflower may show up accidentally within another seed packet. Please accept our apologies if you do ever receive one or two unexpected seeds that show up in your packets. While we work aggressively to ensure no seed lots contain noxious weeds, we do use the same harvest and seed cleaning equipment for multiple crops, so occasionally an unexpected seed will show up where it wasn't intended. While we do not offer refunds in these instances, we do want to know if this occurs for you beyond an incidental plant here or there. We constantly work to minimize these issues by vacuuming out seed cleaning machines and screens between different species.

Liability and Arbitration
Requirement for arbitration - The Washington State Seed Act, chapter 15.49 RCW, requires mandatory arbitration of disputes involving allegedly defective seed. Liability is limited to the cost of item purchased.

Lost or Missing Packages
Due to theft from unsecured customer mailboxes and other point of delivery factors, we are unable to offer refunds or replacements when USPS tracking documents a successful customer delivery. For lost an missing shipments, customers should initiate a USPS Missing Mail Search.

Additionally -- we strongly recommend customers with missing mail speak in person with their local post office. Because shipping labels are barcoded and scanned at the point of delivery, in our experience post office staff can often pinpoint the exact location of a packages delivery scan. Note that this approach often more quickly finds packages than the online mail search process.

Order Cancellations and Changes
Had a change of heart or want to change your order? Please email us immediately. If your order has not yet been processed, we will be happy to cancel or modify it for you.
