Coastal Species - Northwest Meadowscapes

Coastal Species

We farm at sea level, in salty mud, temporarily reclaimed from the ocean. Wild coastal plants are fundamental to our daily lives, and fundamental to everything this business is. Beautiful and stronger than any upland plants, resistant to storms and king tides, they are as necessary and quintessential to the seacoast as the gull and shell, the driftwood and the midden pile. At the coast these plants reclaim the wild beauty of their rightful place. Inland – on green rooftops or rock gardens -- they evoke long horizons, wondrous patchy ground spaces for birds and small animals, and the unrestrained solitude of the sea.
